Your selected team of movers assigned to your move will possess the exact skills needed to maximize the likelihood of a successful move experience. If you have lots of bedroom furniture that will need to be disconnected, you will have a mover skilled in disassembly and knowledge with operating tools. If you have lots of glassware and fragile collectibles, you will have a packer assigned who specializes in carefully wrapping glassware. The Team Leader is a working supervisor who is the mover in charge of the move team on move day. Every single local move is assigned a Team Leader. All of our Team leaders have worked a minimum of 200 local jobs before attaining the title and responsibilities of the Team Leader position.
The Team Leader is absolutely essential to the success of your move. The reality is no move is problem free, there will always be changes and unforeseen challenges that will arise on move day. It is the Team Leader who is working the frontlines helping manage the problems and working with you, the move team, and your Moving consultant to problem solve and keep everything on track. The Team Leader is the Quarterback, the Captain, and your Five Star General to keep your patience calm, the move team morale high, motivated, and focused on delivering a great move experience.
The most important responsibility of the Team Leader is to make sure all of the promises made by the Moving Consultant during your estimate are delivered on move day. Prior to the arrival of your move team on move day, the Team Leader will have had a meeting with your Moving Consultant to review your entire move plan. When he arrives on move day, he will know the details of your move and will be onsite helping move furniture while directing and delegating responsibilities to the moving team to assure total accountability.
On the morning of your move day, you can expect the Team Leader to send you a text when in route to your house to communicate that he and the team are on their way. Upon arrival, you can expect the Team Leader to introduce you to the entire move team and ask you to perform a pre-move walkthrough of your current space. This will give him a chance to review the project himself, compare everything to the original estimate, and make sure that nothing has changed. During this time, he will be listening to you while delegating his move team to focus on particular activities as they get started.
Some of the key responsibilities that your Team Leader will manage on move day include:
- Read the estimate, talk to the Moving Consultant to understand the scope of the move
- Provide text communication with Customer and Moving Consultant to inform when move team is in route
- Driving the moving truck in a safe and efficient manner to arrive within the promised arrival window or notify customer of any unforeseen delays preventing arrival within the provided window
- Parking the moving truck at origin in the safest and most efficient position for loading
- Introducing move team and performing walkthrough of move
- If any inconsistencies in estimate and walkthrough, inform the customer and Moving Consultant to game plan solutions
- Collect customer loading signature at start of job
- Protecting the house and furniture for moving with protective materials
- Loading and securing customers items inside the moving truck
- Delegating specific jobs to the move team throughout the day
- Ensuring the correct items are loaded onto the truck in correct sequence
- Special care for any flagged or specialty items
- Perform final walk-through with customer at origin to make sure everything was loaded and nothing was missed
- Verify destination address to make sure address listed on Bill of lading is correct
- Drive the moving truck to the new house using the most efficient and available truck route
- Park the truck in most efficient and safest position for unloading
- Protect the destination with protective materials in preparation for unloading
- Ensure any furniture that was disassembled by the move team gets assembled (unless the customer asks for items to not be assembled. Separately, assembly excludes cribs, bunk beds, swing sets, and trampolines)
- Perform final walk-through with customer at destination to make sure everything was unloaded from the moving truck and positioned into the customers preferred locations inside each room
- Document any damages and notify Moving Consultant
- Collect final signatures and payment

Our home protection kit is unique in the industry and is a carefully curated bag of special protective supplies designed to protect your house. After more than 42 years of providing successful local moves, we are easily able to identify the most vulnerable parts of your house that are at risk for damage while moving throughout your home. Our team has assembled an entire bag of protective materials specially designed to protect these areas. At the beginning of every move and before anything is moved out of or into the house, our move team will install our protective materials.
A full door pad with our signature trademarked “Relax, I’m a Professional” tagline and logo will be placed over your front door. This premium quilted door pad is designed to cover one of the most exposed and high traffic areas of your home. After all, over 95% of items being moved into and out of most homes passes through a front doorway. Most front doors are designed to keep your home secure when closed, but during moving, your front door is an open target subject to getting dinged and scratched by furniture carried through the doorway. This is especially common for a leg of a sofa, a handle on an appliance, or a knob on a dresser to brush against a door and inflict a scratch or a mark. However, with the door pad in place, an accidental bump against the door will keep your front door protected during the move.
As an added protection for your doorway area, Professional Movers.com will install a spring-loaded jam protector on the frame of your door. This gives the entire entryway area of your doorway complete protection. We also have a very similar type of protective sleeve that uses Velcro instead of springs that we will place on the banisters of staircases.
The next key area of your home that our protection kit will safeguard is your floor. As you enter your home, your floor is often the first impression of your new space, that is why we work hard to keep it protected during the move. Our move team will roll out our special black neoprene floor runners across the high traffic areas near your front door. Our neoprene floor runners are made of a lightweight, reusable, and cushy material that is similar to what divers wear in the water. It lays flat to cover and protect hardwood, tile, linoleum, laminate, while creating a slip-proof surface for walking. It provides the perfect floor coverage for our dollies and foot traffic as we move items into and out of your home.
We typically stock about three 15-to-20-foot rolls of neoprene floor runners per home protection kit. In circumstances where additional flooring needs to be covered, our team can provide, just make sure to ask your Moving Consultant. In addition to neoprene floor runners, Professional Movers.com can provide carpet shield to provide protection of your carpeted areas. Carpet Shield is not stocked inside the Home Protection Kit and is therefore an additional charge so be sure to ask your Moving Consultant if you would like our team to supply on moving day.
Carpet shield has a light adhesive designed to adhere to the carpet and lay flat. This product is ideal for stair cases and recommended with any light-colored carpet or carpeted areas that will experience a high amount of traffic on move day. It is also highly recommended if you are moving during winter months or seasons where rain, snow, or wet ground could be tracked onto the carpet. Carpet Shield is a common product stocked at all Lowes, Home Depots, or neighborhood hardware store. If a customer has Carpet Shield, our move team will be happy to roll and place it on your carpet.

Plus, the Rental Crates require NO ASSEMBLY and NO TAPE, helping reduce overall packing time in half. You read that right, when you use plastic moving boxes instead of traditional cardboard boxes, you can pack your entire house in half the amount of time. And don’t worry about going to the store to buy cardboard boxes anymore, because we will deliver our Rental Crates right to your house. Our Moving Consultants will even help you figure out how many boxes you need so you don’t have to worry about not ordering enough or ordering too many.
Incredibly simple, so simple many customers like to rent and pack the Rental Crates themselves. And some customers actually rent the plastic moving boxes and move themselves. That is not a problem, we designed the crates to not be exclusive for only customers who hire our moving services. However, we still provide professional packers to pack them and a team of professional movers to move them if you are looking for a full-service experience.

In 2022, Professional Movers.com implemented a new Customer Relationship Management software to help improve process flow for our customers. The new system now allows our local move customers the ability to e-sign estimates, inventories, and move documents using their smartphone. Before they are placed on our trucks, all your mattresses will be placed in mattress bags. You can supply your own mattress bags to our move team or we can provide them to you for a modest charge. This will ensure that before your mattresses leave your home, they will be preserved in the same condition that they were prior to the move.
The living room furniture that you invite your friends and family to sit on and share your company at holiday and family gatherings will go inside our moving trucks. You can expect it to be carefully hand carried to the moving truck where it will be wrapped inside our truck using premium moving pads. If you have light colored upholstery, you can expect the furniture to be stretch-wrapped inside the home to keep it clean.
To ensure total accountability, each of our moving trucks is assigned to a specific Team Leader who is responsible for the overall cleanliness and regular inspection of their moving truck. The Team Leader only drives their assigned truck (unless their truck is out of service for maintenance). By assigning a specific truck to a specific Team Leader, he as the driver of that vehicle takes great pride in maintaining his truck and what goes on and off his truck.
Our Team Leaders understand that their truck is a direct reflection of them and their personal approach to service. From keeping the pads folded and equipment well stocked to ensuring that the floor of the box is swept and clean of debris, they take a personal interest in making sure their truck is looking its best as it arrives at your house. We have also instilled additional incentives for our Team Leaders through monthly bonus opportunities for maintaining a clean truck. This means they spot check jobs for bed bugs, oils, or any kind of hazardous materials and they do not allow them on our truck.
As an added layer of inspection our Operations Manager provides an even deeper daily inspection in the mornings and late afternoons on each truck. Each day starts at 6:00am at our Walled Lake Storage Warehouse where trucks are prepped and prepared with all of the moving supplies needed for the assigned jobs that day. Before moving supplies for the day are loaded onto the moving truck, the Operations Manager Inspects the truck to make sure nothing from the previous customer’s move the day before was accidentally left inside the truck. The Operations Manger is also checking the quantity of moving equipment to make sure everything that was loaded the day before has been returned. Then finally, the overall cleanliness of the truck is thoroughly vetted, including a close look at flooring, corners of the truck, and edges of the pads. This inspection is key to make sure that there are NO BED BUGS.
Professional Movers.com has a very strict policy when it comes to BED BUGS. We will NOT book or schedule any move where BED BUGS are discovered or disclosed at time of estimate. In the event a job is booked and BED BUGS are discovered on move day during the shifting of furniture, the customer will immediately be notified and all moving will stop. Professional Movers.com will stop services to protect our move team and our future customers who use our trucks. Any items already loaded onto the moving truck will be immediately unloaded off the moving truck at the current location and all packing or moving will stop. The customer would be responsible to provide payment for any time and materials used prior to the discovery of bed bugs. This will include purchase of the moving pads inside the truck and/or any cost associated with having the interior professionally treated to remediate BED BUGS from the moving truck.
As for the outside of our moving truck, we care equally about the presentation of the exterior. After all, our trucks are driving billboards that offer the public the very first impression of what it would be like working with our company. A clean and well-maintained truck that you are not embarrassed to have parked in front of your new home is what you can expect. Every 7 days we have our trucks professionally hydro washed by a third part company that specializes in truck washing.
