You are going to be choosing a moving company to put all of your life’s belongings into their hands and onto their trucks. It’s a big decision, but one you can make with confidence once you read the 10 Reasons That Make Professional Movers.com the Best Residential Michigan Moving Company.
1. Our Movers are Outstanding, Intelligent, and Highly Trained
We recognize that the key ingredient to a successful residential move is the actual movers who provide the service. The movers you hire and trust to relocate your most valuable items must be skilled in both moving and customer service. We consider residential moving to be just as much a skilled-trade as the plumbing, electrical, or carpentry trades. You are trusting your life’s possessions with the movers who show up at your house. That is why Professional Movers.com only hires and provides qualified, friendly, intelligent, and experienced movers who are all background checked.
All of our moving teams consist of company employees who are paid well, treated well, and trained well. Our company employees receive competitive hourly wages, and access to health benefits. All of our Team Members are insured and covered under Workers Comp to protect you while we are moving inside your home or working on your property. Professional Movers.com even offers a retirement with an employer match, and career path beyond the role of mover.
Make sure you do your research on any other moving companies that you consider. Find out if their movers are their actual employees or if they just send 1099 contractors or day laborers to work within your home. Are they background checked or covered under any kind of Workers Compensation if they get hurt while on your property? A good, licensed, and trusted moving company should be able to easily be able to provide you with a Workers Compensation Certificate.
Professional Movers.com does NOT hire temporary labor or unskilled day labor in order to save labor costs. Making sure that we provide you with competent and commendable movers is something we take very seriously. Therefore, when you hire us to perform your residential move, you can rest assured that your movers are adept at using good moving techniques and problem-solving skills.
We treat our movers with respect and compassion and expect that they will extend the same courtesy to you. As an added bonus, our movers receive incentivized compensation when they deliver outstanding service and you share that experience. We recognize these team members and at our monthly meetings and make sure they are celebrated for the heroes they are. We appreciate the hard work our team members do to make you happy and it never goes unnoticed. Those are the team members that we promote as we continue to grow our brand.
2. Award Winning Customer Service
At Professional Movers.com, we are not just a moving company — we are a customer service company that moves. Delivering an incredible Customer service experience is our culture. Improving a customer’s move experience is in every decision we make. From adopting the use of new technology like estimating software and text messaging applications to ensure great communication and transparency to hand picking and stocking all of our moving trucks with the heaviest, most expensive premium moving blankets to pad wrap and protect your furniture better than any other moving pad. No decision happens here without you, our customer in mind. Before we implement anything, we ask, will this improve a customer’s move experience?
The most important piece of the puzzle to providing great customer service is the actual movers performing the work. We recruit great people and we support and provide customer service training and real career paths and tools so they can thrive. It’s their commitment to the culture of great customer service and their desire to work somewhere they are appreciated that has them delivering praiseworthy service. Our move teams have been recognized as “Best Moving Service” by major Detroit Newspaper publications for multiple years. We celebrate these awards and milestones with huge company breakfasts for our move teams. But that is only the beginning, we have monthly meetings with bonuses given to movers when customers contact us to share they had a great experience with our team. In the summer, we even have free lunch for our move teams every Wednesday. Our care for our team translates to their care for you.
Our movers are changing people’s perception of what to expect when hiring a professional moving company to pack and move their home. From helping put the bed sheets on a bed for a senior citizen at the end of their move so they are comfortable on their first night in their new home to helping assist the unpacking of rental wardrobe boxes to save additional rental costs. We realize that every move is unique and it’s the little things that you and your family will appreciate the most after a long tiring move.
Our most celebrated honor includes our customer service practices being featured in the National Best Selling Customer Service Book, “Who’s Your Gladys?”. The entire 1st chapter of the book is dedicated to our customer friendly moving services and how we have created a culture that values a compassionate connection with our customers. At the end of your move, we want you to be so happy, that you tell your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors that Professional Movers.com was the best moving company you have ever hired.
Our customer service practices permeate every level of our organization chart. That starts at the very top. Our Co-Owner, Andrew Androff was locally recognized in CORP! Magazine for being a Customer Service Hero. Most recently, he earned the Ester Shapirio Voice of the Customer Award from the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals. These are celebrated achievements only made possible by an entire company focused on putting the customer first. As Andrew says, “The moving industry is the easiest industry to be successful, all you have to do is be overly transparent, always treat your customers fairly, and always deliver on the promises you make, and you will always have customers.”

4. Moving Consultant Assigned to Estimate Every Move
Who better to provide an accurate estimate for move, than an actual guy who has physically moved people before? At Professional Movers.com all of our Moving Consultants are company employees who began their career here as movers. Our Moving Consultants have a minimum of 5 years’ experience being a residential mover for Professional Movers.com before ever being promoted to the role of Moving Consultant. It is through their time as mover, that they have had thousands of opportunities to experience what it takes to plan and orchestrate an organized and cost-effective move.
Our Moving Consultants know how to look at driveways and determine if a moving truck can fit or if we need to plan additional movers for a longer walk. They view the pathways the movers might carry your furniture and determine the types of house protection that should be included in your estimate. Most importantly, they will review the furniture you want to move and spot troublesome pieces that need to be planned for before they actually become a problem. They know the types of furniture that might need to be disassembled by the move team and know exactly how much additional time it might take. And since all of our Moving Consultants have spent excessive hours packing customers’ homes as actual movers, they know how to determine exactly how many boxes you might need.
Imagine that, our Moving Consultants can simply open your cupboards and drawers with all of your stuff inside of them, and share with you precisely how many boxes you will need to pack it up. The fact is they have seen it all, and serviced all the different possible situations before. He has prepared his entire career for the ability to professionally and accurately estimate your residential move.
As an added level of competency, our Moving Consultants on the nationally accredited Certified Moving Consultant or “CMC” certificate. The “CMC” credential has come to represent a fundamental competency and adherence to ethical conduct of the sales force for the Household Goods Moving & Storage Industry. To receive the “CMC” credential each of our sales members had to enroll in the “CMC” program and receive rigorous training from the American Trucking Association Moving & Storage Conference. The training was followed by a competency exam and an oath to follow the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards set forth by the American Trucking Association Moving & Storage Conference. This means that by electing to work with Professional Movers.com you can be assured that you are working with a knowledgeable sales consultant who is committed to providing excellent and fair service.
5. Team Leader Assigned to Supervise Every Residential Move
Many Detroit moving companies will just send out movers to a job with little or no accountability. Instead, Professional Movers.com assigns a Team Leader as a working supervisor to every residential move. Our Team Leaders are movers who act as on-site working supervisors and decision makers. They ensure that the move plan designed by your Moving Consultant is carried out on move day. Prior to them arriving at your home, they will have connected with your Moving Consultant to understand the scope of your job and the promises that the Moving Consultant has made. They will have reviewed your actual estimate to make sure that the entire move team arrives prepared and ready to orchestrate a seamless move.
Our Team Leader is your main point of contact on moving day. Before your moving team arrives at your home on move day, a text message will be sent to you to introduce you to the Team Leader and update you on their target arrival time. Once they arrive the Team Leader will position the moving truck and introduce you to the moving team. They will review the items you want moved and make sure that anything that was promised during the estimate will be completed during the move.
If you asked Professional Movers.com to pack your grandfather clock, the Team Leader will be the one responsible to make sure it happens. Our Team Leaders know that every move is unique and sometimes things can change. They will work with you and your Moving Consultant to problem solve and keep you stress-free on moving day. No matter the challenge their goal is to exceed your expectations.
6. Uniformed Moving Teams Minimizing Potential Damages
All our movers are easy to identify with logoed shirts and hats. When you have our iconic Professional Movers logo across your chest, you have a heightened sense of responsibility to be a professional. As professionals, we care about the finer details in the presentation, performance, and utility. We equip our team members in the most thoughtfully selected uniforms. Our shirts aren’t just cheap standard cotton shirts, they are dry-fit, moisture wicking and designed to keep our team cool and dry in summer months and warm in the winter months. Even the pants we select are picked to reduce chances for rivets or any zippers from making contact with wood furniture and causing scratches while being carried.
Many Detroit moving companies allow their movers to wear jeans on job-sites while moving. Not only does this look incredibly unprofessional, jeans have small rivets along the top of the pants that can scratch the sides of furniture as movers carry pieces up and down staircases. Our Dickie work pants or our summer work shorts have a completely smooth surface and do not have any rivets. All of our moving teams are fully-uniformed in outfits that are designed for moving..
At Professional Movers.com we leave nothing to chance and do everything we can to minimize any possibility of damaging any items. We believe in providing our team with the very best and that means providing them with Pro Mover gear with brands they enjoy wearing and brands designed to make them as comfortable as possible while working, and brands that protect your furniture. Dry fit performance shirts, Flexfit hats, Champion hoodies, Carhartt jackets, and Dickies pants are all quality workwear our teams wear every day.
Checkout our awesome gear for yourself, right here in our company shop. It is stocked with the same sweet gear our team members wear every day. Our movers look good, our movers feel good, and when they all wear the same uniform, they bond, and it strengthens the feeling of being part of a team. Our Professional Movers.com team is in this together and like any good team, we support each other to accomplish our team goal: Deliver a great customer experience.
7. Specialized Trucks Designed for Residential Moving
Many moving companies cut operational corners with basic trucks designed to move general freight shipments and NOT fragile household goods. Those moving companies end up saving themselves a few thousand dollars with the wrong truck, but can end up costing you BIG money. Using a freight truck is smaller than a real moving truck, which requires you to have to pay for more trucks to fit your items and could even result in damaged furniture due to poor suspensions and archaic tie down systems in the trucks. At Professional Movers.com we maintain a huge fleet of late model and well-maintained moving trucks that are purely designed to transport household items.
On residential moves larger than 2-bedroom homes, we operate real moving trucks. You can easily spot what a real moving truck looks like upon our arrival to your house. Our specially designed moving trucks have large custom attic space that places a box directly over the cabs of the truck. This allows our movers to load and fit more of your items into each truck. By being able to load more items into each truck, we can reduce the number of trucks you need for your move. There is no need for you to pay for additional trucks that aren’t needed on move day. Other moving companies who use freight trucks will not be able to move as many items per truckload and typically have to send additional trucks and charge you because their trucks aren’t big enough to fit everything.
Our moving trucks use air ride suspensions and use Kentucky Moving Boxes, Utilimaster Moving Boxes, and Allvan Moving Boxes specifically developed for the shipment of furniture and items commonly found within a home. Our residential moving trucks are not just rental trucks like your standard U-Haul, Penske, or Budget style rental truck. Most rental trucks have wood planks on the inside walls of the box that require non-reliable rope to secure your items. This means those movers using the rental trucks have to hand tie ropes in the back of the truck to secure your items. As the truck drives down the road, those handmade ties can loosen and your items begin to bounce around and could easily become damaged. Instead, all of our moving trucks are specifically designed for moving with reinforced logistical posts that have e-track. The special e-track lets our residential moving teams safely secure your items inside the truck using ratchet straps. Ratchet straps are incredibly reliable and help hold everything in place.
All of our residential moving trucks are lowered to the ground to reduce the pitch of our moving ramps. The average height from the ground to the rear deck of our moving trucks range from 39”-48” inches. This is an industry best and allows our movers to carefully load and unload your items without exerting excess energy. The trucks that many other movers use are much higher from the ground to the rear deck. This means those movers using the higher deck are having to carry all the heavy items up a steeper pitched ramp which can quickly lead to movers becoming fatigued. Mover fatigue is the greatest cause of carelessness and damage during the loading or unloading process.
Standard on all of our special moving trucks, we stock (3) various sized curb ramps in each moving truck that our move teams can place along curbs or front porch steps, this enables our movers to work smarter, safer, and much faster.
All of our moving trucks have access doors on both the sides, as well as the rear of the truck. This enables our moving teams to position our moving trucks in the closest possible load and unload location, helping reduce the overall move time and thus saving you money. Many of the trucks the other movers use only have one rear door. This means that they will not always be able to position their trucks in the most efficient position for loading and unloading.
Even before the arrival of COVID, our policy has always included the daily sanitization of the interior of the front cab and rear box of our moving trucks. This includes wiping down the interior of the cab and sweeping of the floor inside the moving trucks to ensure they arrive to your house, free of debris and ready for your move on your scheduled move day.
8. The Very Best Protection for Your Home and Your Items
We care about your belongings and your home as much as you do. After all, not damaging any of your furniture and not damaging your house are two of the most important aspects of how you will ultimately judge our performance. That is why we use superior protective materials to make sure that your items and your home are well protected. As a true, professional, moving company we will prepare your home to move before any piece of furniture or box is moved out.
Prior to our moving teams loading or unloading the moving trucks, our teams will place protective materials throughout your home. Your front door will be padded with premium custom door pad that is specially designed to protect your door while items are being carried out of and into your home. In addition, on the door jam itself, we our team will place a spring-loaded corner protector pad that will cover and protect the main frame of the doorway. All of your high traffic flooring near your main entryways and exits of your home will be covered with protective neoprene floor runners. If you have specialty flooring like marble, travertine, or surfaces that require a harder level of protection, we can offer a masonite builder board.
As an added option, we also stock a product called Carpet Shield that we often recommend during a rainy or snowy Michigan day. The difference between our carpet shield and our neoprene floor runners is that our carpet shield has a self-adhesive film that sticks right to your carpeting. It can be used on staircases without bunching up. Carpet Shield is a much safer alternative to laying down blankets or neoprene that will move throughout the day and gets folds in it that our movers could end up tripping over.
As for your furniture, our movers will place your items into our moving truck and hand wrap each piece of furniture in our supreme moving blankets. We use the heaviest, thickest, most expensive moving pad on the market. They are referred to as the supreme mover moving blankets and they weigh 95lbs per dozen. Most moving companies opt for a cheaper, lighter pad to save money. At Professional Mover.com, we invest in the best pads because we know the extra thickness means more filler protecting your furniture and reducing the chance for damage to occur.
9. Our Reputation Gives You Piece of Mind
We have been in business for over 42 years and our entire residential moving business has been built on referrals and it shows. Over 80% of our residential moving business is repeat customers and new customers who were referred by customers we have moved. We are not some huge national franchise, we don’t have a huge corporate budget for advertising on TV or radio ads. We are just a local, family-owned moving business who built our business the old-fashioned way, delivering high quality move experiences for our customers and growing the Professional Movers.com brand through word of mouth.
We encourage our prospective customers to take time to review our website, read some of our previous customer’s reviews, and even reach-out to someone else who has hired us. Our residential moving services come highly recommended by an impressive list of Michigan families, local celebrity clientele like Detroit Diva, Karen Newman, Metro Detroit’ top Realtor Jeff Glover, local neighborhood Facebook pages, and the readers of the Detroit Free Press and Oakland Press.
10. We Got to Be the Best by Being Better Than Our Competition
It would probably be surprising to most people to learn that in the Michigan Moving Industry, residential packing and moving is considered to be the most difficult of all the services a moving company offers. Some of the oldest and largest Detroit moving companies prefer to provide little in the line of residential moving services, instead opting to do only commercial office moving. They prefer commercial jobs over residential household goods jobs because commercial moves tend to be more of a cookie-cutter type of service. Office moving is not as physically demanding on movers and does not require movers with the type of skills necessary to successfully move homeowner’s high-quality household goods without damages.
Residential moving is not an easy profession. It’s why you don’t see many moving companies that last in our business. At Professional Movers.com we have thrived for over 42 years by recognizing each move for its own unique situation. In residential moves, there is a lot of custom work so we are often reinventing the wheel every time.
Sure, we have great processes in place so each customer receives the same great estimating experience and the same great background checked movers, and the best equipment and tools. But every house and every move is different. Different furniture, different layouts. Some have tight staircases and some have antique or ornate furniture.
Every residential customer’s stories are different. Some people are getting married and moving in together, some families have a baby on the way and need more space, or are taking a new job in a new city. Others are going through a divorce or seniors looking to just downsize. The point is, there are many different variables to a residential move. We take the time to listen better than our competition and then help plan and deliver the perfect organized and stress-free move, and we enjoy the challenge.
Most other moving companies just prefer the low hanging fruit. They will look to not perform many residential moves and target office moving. They know that office furnishings are usually already nicked, scratched or damaged to some degree, so any further minor damages are usually unimportant or go unnoticed to customers. Those movers mainly just focus on expediting their jobs even if that causes damages. The office moving companies do not have to protect furniture as carefully so they can use day-laborers and other inexpensive unskilled casual laborers for their commercial jobs. When their schedules are free, they add residential moves and those same unskilled movers and casual laborers that they send on commercial jobs will end up on their residential moves.
When it comes to planning for a residential move, you should hire the company who does it best. You should hire a company that really specializes in that service. You should expect highly skilled movers who are background checked and actual employees of the moving company you are hiring. You should expect that company to first and foremost, carefully protect all of your valued furnishings, while utilizing proven processes and time-tested systems in place to be as efficient as possible.
Don’t settle for a moving company who just dabbles in residential moving and who cuts corners and puts you in danger by having unskilled, casual day laborers, who aren’t background checked working inside your home and moving your things. At Professional Movers.com you will receive background checked, friendly, intelligent, skilled movers who are our actual employees, EVERYTIME. We specialize in residential packing and moving and can handle your move with a level of professionalism and care that is unmatched in the moving industry here in Michigan.
