Much like all of their great spaces downtown, even their parking blocks are colorfully bold and full of personality. Nice work by Team Leader, Chis Heck and partner Nick Malles for facilitating the seamless transfer.

Carillon to Oakland University

August 4th, 2014

10498271_10152628230441514_4571212947069400761_oToday was an exciting day as our Team Members helped to move Oakland University‘s 49-bell practice carillon through campus. The practice carillon that we relocated is almost identical to the performance carillon that will be housed inside the new 151 foot tall Elliot Tower that will have regular live playing schedule this fall. This odd-looking keyboard console is the heaviest of all extant musical instruments and its music requires a lot of muscle to play. The pounding of the batons with clinched, bare fists and the stomping on the pedals can be a total body workout. Coincidently enough, moving of this beautiful piece of equipment can be an equally exhausting total body workout. Luckily, Professional Movers.com Team Leaders Danial Parker and James Crowley were on-site to offer strength and moving expertise to safely position it into its new location. We look forward to stopping back on campus to listen to University Carillonneur, Dennis Curry and Oakland University Music students as they serenade students with the marvelous bells. The bells and the clock-related equipment have been manufactured by The Verdin Company of Cinncinatti and the Royal Bellfoundry of Perir & Fritsen, Netherlands. So the Kentucky Derby is known as the “most exciting 2 minutes in sports” however today our Team of Moving Stallions had the “most exciting 30 minutes in relocation” as they helped transfer the dPOP steed back to her normal stable inside the basement of the Chrysler House. Visiting their workspace is always inspiring and fun. I mean, where else can you see a kitchen with walls and a ceiling that simulates dripping chocolate, a life-sized horse lamp, an astronaut spacesuit, or a bank vault repurposed into a dramatically elegant conference space? Want to check out dPOP!? Don’t get COLT feet. Come hang out during one of their “Workeasy” events. Every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, dPOP! welcomes anyone who wants to come work with its staff and see what it’s like to spend a day in creative paradise.
